CIOS is MDCX's Compute Infrastructure Operating System — the on-site operations layer that runs a modular Liquid Cooling or Immersion Cooling plant after power-on.
It collects path-addressed telemetry, turns alarms into tickets, and gates every write. Operators query and set points by path; the cloud is not required for the local operations loop.
Where CIOS sits
MDCX designs every block against four axes: rapid deploy, rapid deliver, remote operate, and Token aggregation. See the standards overview.
CIOS is the primary carrier of remote operate. It is the operations OS shipped with each block: telemetry paths, alarms → tickets, and usage metering. DCM (Roadmap) carries Token aggregation; the containers carry rapid deploy; Designers and Docs carry rapid deliver.
Capability envelope
You start with a single site — the start envelope is C21. That site runs the full operations loop locally. Offline autonomy is C20: the plant keeps collecting, alarming, and buffering without a cloud path.
When the estate grows beyond one site, a fleet plane aggregates sites. The site remains authoritative for raw telemetry and local control; fleet is a superset of one site, not a second product. The same query and set verbs work against a site or a fleet URL.
Drivers and integration
Southbound drivers and the protocols they speak are C22. Points are mapped into the closed asset path; vendor-private codes are normalized before they enter the plant model.
Open core
The license boundary is C23. The telemetry path, drivers, dictionaries, and usage measurement are the open core. Commercial surfaces — digital-twin rendering, the capacity engine, multi-tenant substrate, and AI Ops — stay on the commercial side of that line. Pricing, cost, statement, and ERP connectors are not part of the operations loop.
